Julie Fleischer is co-founder of Opt Medical. She has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and a master’s degree in Biomechanical Engineering, both obtained at Delft University of Technology. She has always had a strong interest in design for the healthcare sector, which led her to work on projects such as integration of 3D printing for surgical robots (TU München) , the development of optical tools for surgical guidance (Philips Research) and the use of hyperspectral imaging for monitoring of hospital hygiene (Delft University of Technology).
Anne Hermans is co-founder of Opt Medical. She has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design and a master’s degree in Biomechanical Engineering, both obtained at Delft University of Technology. Anne is determined to develop technologies that can have a significant positive impact on people’s lives and is especially interested in the area where technology, people and nature meet. She has worked on research and development of an intuitive human-machine interface for exoskeletons that allow paraplegics to walk again (Project MARCH) and has done research into human sleeping posture (Tokyo Institute of Technology, TiTech).
Anne and Julie share a profound desire to make a positive social impact through innovation and entrepreneurship. They first collaborated when researching and developing a system to heat water for domestic purposes using the heat that naturally occurs in composting biomaterial (competing in the CleanTech Challenge hosted by YES!Delft).
